Did you read the prospectus BEFORE you invested?

Many funds have implemented charges such as this to discourage short tern
traders from "investing" in their funds.  Short term traders drive up the
funds costs and penalize the other shareholders by adversely impacting the
fund's overall performance.  Therefore, to attract long term investors,
instead of traders, funds have added redemption fees with time limits.  The
fees are not punitive.  They are spelled out clearly in the prospectus and you
agree to them when you send your money in.

You don't think 3 months is short term?   The stay away from Vanguard funds!
Vanguard just instituted a 1% redemption fee on all shares sold within 5
years!
