Have your model number ready and you will be able to browse thru all
documentation available for your system in PDF format.  This is what I did
for a computer I bought off eBay.

My Gateway computer's onboard video card automatically disables in the
presence of an external card.  (Or at least it is supposed to.  I had to try
three different video cards first.  The Matrox G550 was the one that
worked.)
