MS phasing out Win98SE/WinNT4

Hi List,

Many of us prefer to use "older" MS OSes (Win98, WinNT4) for trading
applications. In my experience, apps like TS4 and TS2K actually run
*better* on those OSes vs the newer Win2k and WinXP. Also, NT4 is
cleaner and faster than newer OSes. But hardware support will be an
issue soon, as MS discontinued driver testing.

I plan to stock hardware (mainly graphics cards, which is the most
sensitive part, but complete PCs as well), which is currently supported
under WinNT4 and/or Win98SE to last for the next 5 years at least.

  WHQL will no longer accept certain submissions

Beginning 01 July 2002, at 12:01 A.M. PST, WHQL will no longer accept
submissions for all hardware devices and systems for the following
operating systems. This includes all submission types for all devices
and systems. 

Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition (SE) 
Windows NT 4.0 Workstation 
Windows NT 4.0 Server 

As a reminder, WHQL previously stopped accepting submissions for Windows
98 Gold in the latter part of 1999.
