i am not sure about Soros, but Henry and Dunn are systematic traders...
in fact they emphasize that... Dunn just acquired a major US math guru
who invented simulated annealing, etc and why do you think he did so...
i bet you his system stopped working on the kind of market we are having
these days, take a look at his 2001 return... it's flat...
Henry's been flat majority of time... this guy is f...cking funny, frankly i am
puzzled as to how he makes money at all. he's got a bunch of ex exchange
board members on there telling him what will happen but look at his
returns... they are meager crappy numbers.
the reason why they succeed at suckering in new investors is not the systems they use
but credibility they have based on their past positions held, although
i might say that throwing the word "system" i am sure helps them too.

on top of that the nature of business when
managing billions... and being a market mover. in that case it's not
your system that matters but often your opinion is that moves the market...
take a look at the owners of Dunn and Henry... they mostly got major
exchange board members on there...

and on top of the "ontop" selling is a big part of the business at those
firms... you gotta get the money first, then the market will either lose it
or give you some :)
so systems don't have to be fancy to skim a few mills of the bills and
manipulate the market a little bit...

yet another "ontop" is that you ain't gonna hear about those systematic
traders that make 100% or more per year... NEVER...
do you really think that someone will come out and tell you they make
100+% year in year out... i don't think so...

meanwhile once in a while you get a whistle blowers like
www.predict.com although this guys won't tell you much either, they write books
and brag how they sucked at beating Vegas...
thank god they don't have the grail...
or
www.atdesk.com these guys can't keep their mouth shut making millions. their
programmers make a 1/4 mil or more on average... thank god they don't have
the grail either, otherwise it'd be a disgrace...

regards.
bilo.
ps. sure you can make money without a system when it's 1999, but what about
when it's 2000-2001...
