Commodities (including financials like the eMini as well as options on
commodities) are Section 1256 (from memory, but I think that's
right) -treated trades.  60% of capital gains are taxed at the taxpayers
long-term holding rate.  Assuming a 40% (rounded up from last year's top
39.6%) rate, this gives an average tax rate of 28% for commodities.
