Hi jao,
 
In excel, in cell A8, put an ( = ) sign.
As soon as you do this, a little icon fx will appear along with the equal (=) sign next to it.
 
Click on the fx, find the MAX (maximum) function , click on MAX, Next,and then Finish
 
With any luck your formula in Cell A8 wil be:
 
=MAX(A1:A7)
 
This will give you the maximum number in cells A1 through A7.
