[Metastockusers] pass a parameter to an indicator? how?

In system tester, I don't want a "enter short" triger to make me exit 
a long position.
How can I tell the "enter short that I am long now i.e. own the 
stocks?
I tried to write an "Own" indicator , 
I can query if with  FmlVar("Own","ownFlag"), 
But don't know how to set the own flag from "enter short"
"Input" does not work from there
any ideas? Or am I reduced to do it in C++?
