Still Think Datek could behave a lot more
consumerfriendly but you are probably right John,

Thanks

In order to short a stock the broker must have it
in their inventory or borrow it from someone who does. This looks like a
thinly traded stock with average daily volume below 50000 shares. Datek may
not have any in inventory to short and may not want to look around for someone
who does. On a thinly traded stock changing brokers is probably no the answer.
You're with one that has a good inventory to begin with.

For what its worth a short covering rally in this
stock could be pretty gruesome for the shorts.

    Hello friends:

I wanted to short REFR (based on
    research)
but Datek doesnot has long positions on it so i
    cannot
short it : does anyone of you had simular
    expiriences
with (other) stocks and (other) brokers
    ?
Is the only solution taking another broker
    ?

    Thanks
