Re: OFFTOPIC: Money management software?

Hi Yarroll,

I once emailed Colin Nicholson, a well-known TA practitioner in
Australia, about money management software. I was looking for
a program that would have position sizing algorithms as well as
a function to track transaction costs, especially if executing through
several brokers.

Mr. Nicholoson kindly referred me to a colleague of his who is developing
such a software. Below you can find the software developer's reply for your
reference. I have included his email/web site so that you can contact
him if you wish.

Regards,
Maurice

Hi Colin

Thank you for your email.

A friend and client of mine (a computer programmer with IBM) is presently
developing a Trading Records Data Base. It was originally developed for his
own use, as he needed a program which would make his life much easier -
particularly at tax time. This data base is intended to do everything you
mention with the exception of automatically linking to technical analysis
software. There are too many programs on the market for this to be a viable
feature - at least initially.

The data base is presently being beta tested by a range of share traders.

Although the beta testing group is presently at the 'feedback' stage, your
client would be welcome to purchase the software at the same reduced price
of AUD$177 (including GST and postage) as the other beta testers, and trial
it. He would have direct access to the programmer, who is willing to assist
him with the use of the software, if and when required.

The only condition is that at the end of a few weeks, he would take about
ten miniutes to complete a questionnaire, giving his thoughts and
suggestions for improvement.

At the conclusion of the beta testing phase, he would receive a copy of the
final software.

Kindest regards

Neil.
