Jack,

I run both Metastock Pro V7.03 and Tradestation 4.0 Build 27 for real time
trading on Windows2000 systems. In a nutshell, if Metastock would make a
formula language that rivaled Easy Language, and for me at least, added the
ability to plot tick bars (e.g. 100 tick bars) and store more than 65,500
ticks in a file, it would be a "world beater."

As it is, a comparison of TS4 to MSK7.03 is probably not fair, since one is
a 16 bit application and at least 8 years older than the other. TS4 is rock
solid for stability in Real Time. I've seen testimonials from some on the
Omega and Realtraders lists that suggests that running 200-300 charts in
real time with indicators and systems applied is no problem at all. I don't
know of anything else that can do this.

The reason that I've stayed away from TS2000i is the stability and bugs it
has, even with Service Pack 5. TS4 can backtest over only 13000 bars, which
is a drawback. TS2K and MSK7 can do this over many more bars, which is much
more helpful in backtesting.

Metastock has the clear appeal for me with graphics. It's easy to use and
studies, systems, and indicators are very clear and straightforward.

The capability of Metastock to scan portfolios is a great advantage that TS4
doesn't have. TS2K may be able to do this with RadarScreen, but I don't
have experience with that product.

So, to sum it all up, I keep both. TS has some features that I need and so
does Metastock.

I *dream* of that comprehensive product someday....
