Jim,

You can do this in MetaStock. It's much easier in MetaStock Pro because you
can use the Security Function. The form of the function is
Security("TickerSymbol",data array).

So in the McClellan Oscillator, in the place of CLOSE you'd use the above as
follows (I'm assuming you have an Advancing-Declining Issues Composite or
have a downloaded security called ADVDECL):

Mov(Security("ADVDECL",CLOSE),19,EXPONENTIAL)-Mov(Security("ADVDECL",CLOSE),
39,EXPONENTIAL)

If you have the End Of Day version you can try using the INDICATOR feature.
Basically, this returns into the formula the data array for whatever you
have highlighted/selected on the screen. I've done this with explorations
(for a good example, look at the Equis-MACD of Comparative Relative Strength
in the Explorer). I'm fairly sure this will work with a system test as
well, but I've never done it. The key thing to remember is to make sure
that you have "selected" the data in a chart in the background (in this
case, the MCO indicator line that you have made from a custom indicator)
before you run the system test.

I'd be curious to know if this works for you.

Is there any way to do a System test by using the inputs from one chart to
determine the performance of a second chart based on the signals given in
the first chart. For instance, use the overbought (oversold) signals from
the McClellan Oscillator chart as sell (buy) signals in a System test to
determine the profitability of trading the QQQ.

If it cannot be done in MetaStock, does anyone have code or guidance on how
to do this using Excel.
