Attaching files to e-mail messages will always have a place in directed
communications (i.e. to one or a few recipients). The trend of the future
for broadcast (i.e. many recipients) is to send short e-mails with
notification of a URL ("web address") where the attachment may be viewed.
The SI model is a (not necessarily ideal) example of how this might be
achieved.

I have no qualm with the content nor form of the previously distributed
information -- just though you'd like to know this CIO's opinion of where
technology use in collaborative environments might be heading.
