When you backup your files and try to restore with a different operating
system or even with different versions of the same operating system, they
might not restore them at all.  If you are very knowledgeable about
operating systems you might be able to overcome this problem. Its not
supposed to happen, but it does!

My associates and I have found it safer to zip up files and copy them back
onto the hard drive.
