Any serious Elliott Wave student will tell you that channels are a
classic way to trade moves, both major and minor. It is worht studying a
good book on Elliott to understand this technique.

Frankly all the mess with r squared etc is avoided if you use a relative
strength scan in the Explorer to establish those stocks with either
superior relative strength or setting up divergences with an indicator.
I find this produces a short list for analysis.
