I want to papertrade, using the N-100, and I have a
simple AFL involving stochastics that did well in EOD
backtesting with buying or selling in the AM depending
on yesterday's close.
But how do I start this off? On June 29, let's
say, I'll buy at the opening depending on 6/28's
closing prices. Does the program do this for me,
remembering how big my hypothetical account is? OK,
let us say, now I "own" some tickers. But how do I
keep track of these? And when I look at EOD prices on
6/29, what routine do I run? How does the program
know what I own so it can decide if it wants to sell
anything on the AM of 6/30? And where does it keep
track of what I then buy, and at what price? Does the
program keep track of what I am buying and selling
each day?
When the program runs the backtester it keeps track
of the hypthetical portfolio as each day passes. But
how is this done as I go forward in time??
