Hans,
here is a function I wrote to translate AMI dates into a day number:
 function ws_toDayNum( adate) 
{
strDate=NumToStr(adate,7,False);
 yr= StrToNum(StrMid(strdate,1,2));
 mo=StrToNum(StrMid(strdate,3,2));
 dy=StrToNum(StrMid(strdate,5,2));
 adj=(mo>1) +( mo>3) + (mo>5) + (mo>7) + (mo>8) + (mo>10) + (mo>12)-
((mo>2)*2);
 return  ( yr*365) +( (mo-1)*30) +dy +adj;
}
