In the import wizard I do click the option to allows negative prices. Which solves the prob. But I'm not sure why the import was crashing the program. I'll follow Grahams suggestions and see what happens. If it continues I'll let you know.

have you checked a log? those errors can be just "empty" records - records
with TICKER but no prices, volume, etc ... e.g.
TPSA,20040303,,,,,,
