You don't have to "compress", the original file is compressed. You (Winrar) does the de-compression (extraction)for you. Download and install Winrar in some folder first. Then go to the Russian site and download one of the books, again in some handy or new folder. Then when you right click in this file (the book) the menu will show you a few "extracting" options.

I did all that but I am unsure of how to proceed from there.  Do I open the document with this rarlab tool?  The email says it is a word or PDF file but I have no idea how I "compress" the file with this rar tool.  I've never done this before and never heard of "rar" until now.

How the heck do you download this stuff?  The poster wrote something about a plug-in but then it got cut off where he described what the plug in is.
