[amibroker] IB/AB data

Hi,
 
I've just got myself setup with the Interactive Broker plugin for 
Amibroker. 
 
IB doesn't provide a backfill feature. I think have that right. 
 
So does this mean I will have to keep an IB/AB connection during each 
trading session? 
 
What about futures, will I have to stay connected for 24 hours to get all 
the data I want for charts or just normal trading hours.
