I am reviewing the descriptions of how stochastics are calcualted
using the AFL functions STOCHK and STOCHD and am once again confused.
STOCHK "calculates the %K line of the Stochastic Oscillator (with
internal slowing 3)".
Typically, Fast Stochastics (%K) typically has no slowing (I am
assuming that "slowing" here means moving average). Is this a
typographical error or am I missing something? What is meant
by "smoothing"?
Further, if this is a moving average "slowing" is it a simple MA or
is it exponential?
Same questions for the STOCHD function. (However, here it is standard
to do a three day smoothing.)
Can anyone help me here?
Thanks
Bill
