RE: [RT] Backtest software

Jim,

I am sure the software is everything you say it is.  My problem with their whole processes of get you setup for the trial version.  Very confusing, and no support on Saturday.  I had a subscription to the TS2000 years ago, and unfortunately, I had untold problems with their downloads.  Granted, that was back in the days when the internet was new.  You would think that 12 years later their service was a little better, but apparently not, at least for me. :-(

That is strange. I’ve had the exact opposite experience. Did you do the StockFinder 4.0 or the web version? I don’t use the web-version. I have it on my desktop and my laptop. I travel a lot and really like the fact that I can work on my ideas, screen stocks/ETFs and backtest ideas on the road.

Like anything, there’s definitely a learning curve.

When I’ve called cust serv, they fixed me  right up.

I heard of another software that will do backtesting, but I have to get a hold of a friend to get the name. I can’t remember it.

That is strange.  I just wasted 3 hours today trying to get that thing to run.  I had to keep signing up for a new account, the StockFinder kept telling me I didn't have an account.  I wrote them and demanding a refund.  Even if the software is good, their customer service could use some serious help.  I'll be looking for something different, but thank you for your response.

I am looking for a piece of software or on-line service where I can do two things:
1) Scan for gaps
2) Backtest trades based on gaps

Any suggestion?
