Doctors extubated (i.e., removed the breathing tube)
him yesterday. He is using a BIPAP machine to help him breathe. Taking
medication to keep his heart in rhythm. They are allowing him some ice chips to
wet his throat. He will be dialyzed today and tomorrow to help his kidneys.
They will try to have him sit in a chair today.
The nurses keep telling me recovery is a series of very small victories.
