Hard to argue with your objections to the DJIA - I have to wonder what a lot
of the stocks in the Dow Industrials have to do with "industrial"... Still,
there's a pretty high correlation between the S&P and the Dow. I only look
at the cash Dow to help with analyzing the mini-Dow futures.

I don't know if it's the case anymore, but years ago the Dow was what the
average Joe thought about when the subject of "the market" was mentioned. At
least that's why Prechter preferred it to the S&P for his EW analysis; he
claimed it better represented the mass psychology (not that I'm a big fan of
EW or Prechter). In the late 90s, I would think he'd have switched to the
NASDAQ, eh?
