Hmmm, most of those Congressmen are long dead.  These GSEs trace their roots back to the 1930s depression bail out.  And the current crop of Congressmen?  Oh, you guys go out and make loans affordable, particularly in areas of urban blight.  Of course there were sweeteners as well.  Throw in large dollar jumbos, no money down, interest only to make everyone happy.  But where there’s lots of money, the crooks and political cronies do well.  Franklin Raines gave up $100M of options (which would now be worthless) and still have $300M of salary and bonuses left over for what, 2 years of work?  Fan/Fred are no different than the ill fated S&Ls;  put in business by Congress to do something that doesn’t make long term business sense.  And they did that extremely well.  Many are complicit and most are long gone or past the statue of limitations.  And the public is guilty as well.  The naïve perpetually victimized taxpayer.  As long as government is involved and people are not looking out for their own interests first and foremost, there will be dislocations, waste and crime.

This is just one of the social engineering experiments of the 1930s.  This one will be like the ripples in the ocean caused by a pebble hitting an otherwise call surface.  Social Security is the Armageddon asteroid.

Where are the cries for the boards of both Freddie and Fannie to be investigated and charged criminally if found that they profited at the expense of the taxpayer?

Of course Ben....this call "syncs" with the govt bailout of Fannie and Freddie....

at an incredible cost which can only be paid-for by this govt with FIAT currency.

I see no bottom for the US Dollar.

Huge upside for gold.

The XAU will probably start a good bounce from here. Today's new low
slightly undercut the 50% retracement of the '00-'08 rally, but time
is now coming into focus as well.
Here's what I've got for today's low...

1. 2*89 c from and exc the ATH
2. 55 c from and exc the 7/08 top
3. 89 t from and exc the 5/08 btm
4. 123 (Lucas) t from and inc the ATH
5. 3*162 t from the '06 low
6. 2.33 yrs from the '06 top (233 is Fibonacci)
7. 2*988 t from the '00 btm (987 is Fibonacci)

There are others, but these are the most interesting.

Price-wise, a move to 157-158 or so, then a renewed drop to the 105-
106 area around 10/24????

FWIW
