Rashid,

Is it a single stick (1g)? If so, does it run with just the gig stick?

If it is three 512s, most boards have an issue with that number of
sticks even if they provide a third slot it's usually not a good thing
to use it.

Another possibility is either registered or ECC sticks mixed with non
registered or non ECC sticks. Larger sticks (1G+)are a lot of times
registered (buffered) or ECC (have a nineth or odd number of chips per
side, for parity).

If it runs with the gig stick only, assuming that it is a single stick,
there are some intel chipsets (amd as well, although mostly older
chipsets) that have memory slot conflicts with uneven memory sizes.
There is also a problem with large memory configurations and video
cards running 256 MB or more of ram, I've only seen that one in server
2003 but xp is some sort of a derivative so I'd assume it may be common
between the two of them.

If you need more help post your configuration (proc, chipset, video,
etc).

Jeff
