Another item to consider is that financial bubbles only occur once every generation or longer so that has skewed the data you presented.  Taking office immediately after a bubble has popped is obviously not a good thing either, so as they say, timing is everything.
 
But I agree with you about today.  I expected either a continuation or a vigorous reaction by the bulls but instead we got neither.
