Gerald Appel recommends checking out SELL SIGNALS obtained with the 8-17-9 MACD during bull runs by using a 12-25- 9 MACD and acting only when the 12-25-9 confirms the sell signals of the 8-17-9. He also says that a MACD buy or sell signal should not be relied on when there has not been any significant move in the stock since its previous high or low.
