There's a rather scary story here (http://grc.com/dos/grcdos.htm)by
Steve Gibson, the author of ZoneAlarm firewall and other computer
security tests. It's rather long and a bit technical but very
interesting reading for the weekend <g>. Seems a lot of people may
unknowingly be harboring "zombie" programs on their PC's that allow
others to take control or see what is going on. When the victim is
online, hackers are able to use these programs at their command to do
virtually anything they want, like use your computer to drive a DDoS
(Denial Of Service) attack at a website. There's a couple of tests
to try at the end to check if you might be infected. Seems those
with cable modems (@home, etc.) may be the easiest victims (or the
most unsophisticated?).
