Dave

I apologise in advance if the tone of this message sounds overly
personal, I am only taking your message (and others you have made) as an
example of an attitude that is becoming prevalent.

Well, you got that right.

It appears that you are only finding value from the list when you can
criticise something. I am a lurker who finds tremendous value in the
ideas being thrown out here. I am not paying for any of these ideas, so
I am not looking for brokerage statements or statistical proof. If I
want proof, I will research the ideas further myself. IMHO, many people
on this list want verifiable systems handed to them on a silver platter.
Many of the more rational and experienced members on this list try to
explain that that is just not going to happen, but it seems their
comments keep falling on deaf ears.

My point is that the value of the list is in getting the ideas (for
free). Criticising the senders only stops the ideas from coming, as does
bad language and any other forms of incivility.

Well, no. There was at least one contribution made that you belittled
that had nothing to do with statistical proof. I know the poster was
correct from my 14 years experience that was directly pertinent to the
question at hand. I can't 'prove' to you he was right, but I know he
was.

A lot of vigilantes here are taking a nasty approach in questioning the
ideas of others. This nastiness is childish, and it keeps happening,
rather than being an isolated incident that can be forgotten.
