To clear up some misconceptions regarding Outlook Express
v5+:
1) PIF, VBS, EXE, and other non-image files are not opened by
OE unless the user specifically opens the attachment.
2) There is no need to disable VBS scripting unless you prefer
not to exercise care about what you open
3) Basic care and prudence on the part of email users is the
best defense. Email users who open non-image and EML files without knowing they
are free of virus' are asking to be infected
4) The IE Windows update process (Tools>Windows Update)
should be used to facilitate the downloading and installation of security
updates.
