After reading the script and half listening to the program it sounds to me
like they were wiped out by the infamous "fat tails". Although they didn't
mention Standard Deviations in the program it sounds like they were betting
on reversion to the mean and it worked for a few years. Then came the
currency crisis and fat tails on the scale of dinosaurs. I wonder who was on
the outer side of those trades, they don't mention that either. As per
usual, in the end the bill will end up showing up at your house.
