Below are the results of our weekly "Guess the Dow" sentiment
survey. The survey was taken from 12/7 through 12/13 on the Lowrisk
.com web site.

Number of participants: 334

30 day outlook:

47% bullish, 53% last week 18% bearish, 31% last week 35% neutral,
 16% last week

(percentages may not sum to 100 due to rounding)

Median guess for the DJIA closing value on Friday, 12/18: 8999 (it
was 9160 last week). More complete sentiment data is available at
<http://www.lowrisk.com/sentiment.htm> .

Bullish sentiment dropped from 53% to 47% this week, which is to be
expected given the 195 point drop in the DJIA last week. The big
surprise is the bearish sentiment, which dropped dramatically from
31% to 18%. This dramatic drop in bearish sentiment is hard to
explain give the markets weakness last week, and certainly seems
ominous for the bulls. Finally, neutral sentiment is very high at
35%. We have noted in the past that high neutral readings frequently
seem to portend volatile times for the market.
