I've never attempted to use Elliott Wave counts because I consider them to
be too subjective, however I do wave counts in a loose fashion to estimate
the possible scope of Fibonacci thrusts and retracements. I've generally
considered the current rally to consist of 3 completed impulse waves
beginning 10/8 with pivots on: 10/12(H), 10/13(L), 10/20(H), 10/28(L),
11/6(H). However, considering the breadth confirmations I see for this
rally, I'm preferring an alternate scenario of 2 completed impulse waves
beginning 9/1 with pivots on: 9/23(H), 10/8(L), 11/06(H). Even though the
10/8 low was lower than the 9/1 low, we had a higher close with very strong
positive divergence on breadth and momentum. I particularly like the later
scenario because the 2nd wave is 1.618 time the length of the first wave
which is generally about right for the middle wave of a strong move. The
second scenario would suggest a pullback here to either 1093 (strong
probability) or 1065 (lesser probability) followed by a final thrust of 135
points (.618 * the 2nd wave) into the vicinity of the old highs. Any
Fibonacci users have any thoughts on the these scenarios?
