Hello Riley,
I have traded futures for a living for the past 5 years.
I work at home and one day my wife asked me "What is it your really
do?" So I wrote this to answer her question.
This is what I do.
There are investors and there are speculators.
Investors buy or sell based on a fundemental assessment of how they believe
other investors will view their investments with the passage of time.
If they are all correct, they all win.
I anticipate the probability of what the market will do in the next 24 hours
based on a statistical analysis of history.
I am a speculator.
The futures market provides a liquid marketplace for other investors to hedge their risks.
The futures market is different, for every winner there is a loser.
It is said that 90% of futures market speculators lose all their capital.
Investors buy on greed and sell on fear.
I buy into fear and sell into greed.
I do it methodically and with great discipline.
Done well, it works.
I am in the other 10%.
