It seems to me that one could derive this, even in real time.  The
S&P 500 index is a weighted average of the share prices of the
stocks that make up the index.  As such, the value of the S&P index
should be proportional to some single price.  If that is the case,
then the index value multiplied by the advancing or declining volume
should give a result proportional to dollars.  This would be a sort
of money-flow measurement.

I would think the actual number of dollars isn't important, as long
as the result is proportional to the actual number by some constant
factor.
