REQUIREMENT SHEET

Job Title:

Trading Systems Research Programmer;
Alternatively, Chief Technology Officer

Job Requirements:

What is technically needed (Languages, Databases, Tools, Operating Systems)

Operating system: Macintosh
Languages: C++ and/or REALbasic. Pascal (ideally, THINK Pascal) a strong
plus. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel a strong plus. AppleScript a
plus.
Databases: SQL experience a plus; DB experience not necessary.
Skills: Strong conceptual and organizational skills a must, as are strong
Math skills. Working knowledge of elementary statistics a strong plus. Good
programming documentation skills a must. Knowledge of the mechanics of
futures trading a plus.

How much experience required for each skill set (# of years)

The equivalent of a Computer Sciences major.

Rank each skill in order of importance

Languages and "Skills" of equal importance.

Day-to-Day Description of Job: (what will this person be doing on a daily
basis)

Almost entirely programming. Initially (a period of several weeks at least)
there will be a significant amount of discussion with me to bring the
candidate up to speed, as there is a great deal to learn in order to do this
job properly. This will require that the programmer be at my house to begin,
but will only require occasional visits to discuss new concepts and review
results subsequently, during which time the programmer may work out of
his/her own home.

For Programmers/Developers: What is the application? (what is the end all
product that they will be creating?)

The goal is to develop a suite of programs that will be used to test the
hypothetical historical performance of various futures trading strategies.
To this end, the suite will be constantly growing and must be relatively
easily modifiable to incorporate new concepts. Initially, the core may need
to be ported from existing THINK Pascal programs, but we may decide to begin
from scratch. Output will be numerical at least and possibly graphical, and
the results of one run may be fed into another unit for further analysis.
Ideally such interfacing between units can be automated.

Depending on the employee, his/her help may be needed to incorporate
successful trading systems into everyday production. Excel and AppleScript
would be useful here.

How does each of the above technical skills relate to the day-to-day job i.e
if they need to know C++, for what purpose?

See above.

Approximate Hours Per Week:

Full time (40 hours per week), but flexible since the employee's schedule
will be largely self-determined.

Interview Schedule and Start Date:

Interview Schedule: Available immediately.
Start Date: 1st Quarter 2003

Approval for Hire (thru HR and/or budget approval):

None required. At my sole discretion.

How Long Has Position Been Open:

Just created 4th quarter 2002.

Required Location:

Sonoma County, CA.

Rates/Salary:

$80,000 annual salary. Could go significantly (100%) higher for the right
candidate. Bonus can range from 0 to (rarely but conceivably) 100% of annual
salary.

Work Schedule and Dress Code:

Since candidate will be working mostly from their own home, both are
self-determined. Progress reports will be required.

Non-Compete/Non-Disclosure Clause Details:

The products and concepts are highly proprietary. Non-compete and
Non-disclosure agreements will be required covering a period of five years.

Any Pre-Employment Testing: (drug screening and background check?)

Background check yes, drug screening no.

Competitors working on the position?
