Dual internet connection a solution for backup?

At the moment I have DSL which has a uptime which is very long. But I want
start with auto order execution which will run by itself. To guarantee that
I am always connected, I want to have 2 internet connections, 1 by cable
,the other by DSL. Does anyone has experience with this??
