Guys:

I received this message from a very responsive
gentleman (so far) at Omega support. Note the hoops we
have to jump through to save our DTN historical data.

Check out the ". . . change Base to Decimal and change
the Value data to 500." What the heck does this do ?

Sounds to me like if I don't jump on this right now
for my own system, DTN is planning to "render useless"
all our historical data over the weekend ?

What's your take on it ?

The file (DTN fix) will be posted soon it will only
allow the server to accept the new data that DTN will
be sending out. Windows NT and 2000 are more rebust
than 98 but for now i need you to do the following:

Close all programs runing.
Click on Start / Run.
Type in Regedit and then press enter.
in the registry go to the following location:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\OMEGARESEARCH\TRADESTATION
BY OMEGA RESEARCH\CHART
Now when you have Chart Highlighted in the Right side
highlight and double click on RequestTimeOut.
Now change the Base to Decimal and change the Value
data to 500.
Now click on OK.
Now do the following:
Close all Applications
Click on Start | Run.
In the Open: window, type the name 'msconfig' without
the quotes.
Click on OK.
Select the General tab in the System Configuration
Utility.
Select the option Selective Startup.
Uncheck the box next to Load startup group items.
Click OK.
Select Yes to restart the computer.
Now do the following during the weekend to reduce and
rebuild the data file:
Note: Only the data you export will be kept. Any data
you do not export will be lost. If you are already
running low on disk space the export process may not
complete. Try to free up as much space as possible
prior to performing these procedures.

How To:

Use the following steps to export the data:

Click the Symbol Portfolio tab in the GlobalServer.
Use the Filter drop-down box list to view specific
categories of symbols (e.g., Select All to view all
symbols in your symbol portfolio).
Select all symbols by using the Edit | Select All menu
sequence.
Use the File | Export Data | GlobalServer format menu
sequence.
Under From, use the Date drop-down menu to select the
date corresponding to the first date of data you want
to export.
Under From, enter the beginning time for which you

Under To, use the Date drop-down menu to select the
date corresponding to the last date of data you want
to export.
Under From, enter the ending time for which you want

time zone in which to display the exported data.
Click Next.
Select the fields and their corresponding resolutions
you want to export.
Click Next.
Enter a path and file name for the exported data in
the Save Exported file as box. Exported data files
have an extension of .xpo. Click Browse if you want to

installed to an alternate directory, locate the Server
folder under Omega Research.

Click Find Now.
Once the pds folder has been located, make sure that
it is highlighted. If not, click the name of the
folder with your mouse. Use the File | Rename menu,

Select the fields and their associated resolutions
that you want to import for the selected symbols.
Select the Automatically Rebuild all History Settings
of the Same Field check box to build new bars from old
data. For instance, in previous Data Servers, you
could collect tick data or daily data. If the symbol
you are importing now collects tick, 1-minute, and
5-minute bars, you can select this check box to use
the tick data to build 1-minute and 5-minute bars for
all the imported data.
Select the Automatically Add Selected Field/Resolution
to Symbol History Settings check box to add the
history-to-save settings associated with the data
imported to your current symbol portfolio.

date corresponding to the last date of data you want
to import.
Under From, enter the ending time for which you want
to import data in the Time box.
In the Time Expressed in drop-down menu, select the
time zone in which to display the exported data.
Click Finish.
Click OK to confirm the data was imported
successfully.
After you have verified the new data file is intact
(by creating a few charts). After the integrity of the
new data file has been verified, delete the oldpds
folder from the hard drive.

Finally, use the File | Work Offline menu sequence to
clear the check mark; this switches the GlobalServer
to Online mode.
