Assuming this is NT -- I don't know if W2k is the same -- you add
"/NoSerialMice" to the boot.ini line. E.g. in my boot.ini I have
lines that say (all on one line):
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(4)\WINNT="Windows NT Workstation
Version 4.00" /NoSerialMice /SOS
I don't remember what the /SOS is for, but it's not related to this.
