:Am I missing something? The year 2000 is still 11 months away. Why is
:everyone so pissed off that Tradestation has no Y2K patch (like almost
:all software). Pardon me for being so ignorant but isnt it fair to let
:the company develop a patch for existing software.
Because we have to start collecting data before the year 2000. For instance,
by the 2nd thursday in December, 1999 (or is it the thursday before the 3rd
friday of Dec.?), if you trade the S&P, Bonds or ND, you can no longer trade
the December 99 futures contract but must trade the March 2000 contract. If
you don't have the data beforehand, you're up the creek without a paddle in
a sinking boat. And usually with the bonds and S&P, you have some trades
already occuring 3-6 months ahead of time.
