Re: Windows 98

I have BMI cable and Windows 98 works fine. One of advantage of
Windows 98 is a revised memory manager where Windows 98 uses all
memory available.

With Windows 98 there is a "System Monitor" program that can be used
to monitor a number of things including the Windows 98 memory manager.
I monitor so-called "Locked memory": In my case with 128 meg total
when TradeStation starts it takes about 73 meg of Locked memory with
the Locked Memory slowly increasing toward 96 meg during the week.
When Locked Memory gets near 90 meg I reboot at night which then drops
Locked Memory back to down to 73 meg.

I also reboot every weekend together a back-up of the Omega directory
and a disk defrag. I have read Windows 98 will not release memory
until all 16-bit applications are closed, so running large 32 bit
applications when TradeStation is running may reduce the memory
available for running TradeStation.
