Others on the list may have better information than I do but you might want
to wait before upgrading to Windows 98.

First I believe it was Microsoft that said that Windows 98 is slower than
Windows 95 unless you are using Windows 98 to browse the internet.. Also
I believe all the optimizing done in Windows 98 was for 32 bit programs.

There is a FAT32 disk access enhancement in Windows98 that's been available
for Windows 95 for some time, but in programs doing a lot of random disk
access as the Omega Server does, I've read the programs will run slower with
FAT32 than with FAT16. FAT16 was used with the initial releases of Windows
95.

Most importantly there are reportedly some internal resource management
problems with Windows 98 which may cause programs running for a long time to
hang up. Omega has said they are beta testing Version 5.0 on both Windows
98 and NT so you might want to wait for the results of Omega's beta testing.
