Re: Source for C++ compiler

If you intend to work with C++ professionally, you'll need one of the widely
used professional compilers because your customers will demand it. Assuming you
already have a project, it's quite likely that the only C++ compiler which
offers a prayer of providing the fast prototyping, coding, and debugging
required by most paying customers is Visual C++. Even then, the learning curve
will be long and steep unless you have extensive low-level programming
experience because the power of C++ will allow you to get into trouble undreamed
of when using higher level compilers. For that reason, you need a good arsenal
of expensive debugging tools.

Unless you do have a specific project requiring C++, I would evaluate some
alternatives. For obtaining fast results, reasonably robust programs and fast
execution, there is probably nothing better on the market than Visual Basic 5.
Alternatively, Java is in very high demand for contract work.
