What is the difference between an on-the-floor commodities trader "local" who
trades only for his own account, and a full time commodities trader who makes
the exact same trades but trades from off-the-floor?
Both are full time traders. Both make the exact same types of trades. The
only difference is the location of where they conduct their full time
business, and the fact that the on-the-floor trader is required to either own
or lease a seat inorder to be able to trade on-the-floor.
Why does the on-the-floor trader have to pay self-employment tax but the off-
the-floor trader does not?
