RE: What Files Are Important

Mr. Oberman,
If you have access to a backup unit such as a tape drive, jazz drive, or a zip drive, you might want to consider backing up the entire Omega directory. If this is not feasible in your case, backup the Server, TS, and Universe subdirectories under the Omega directory and that will backup the information that you requested. Also, if you have collected any data from DialData or Telescan( using the Omega Downloader) you might want to back up the Data directory as well. I could tell you the particular files that you would need to save in the server so as to minimize your backup, but there is no such shortcut in backing up you workspaces, indicators, and settings. There is also no short cut to backing up the symbol universe. You have to backup the TS and the UNIVERSE sub-directories. As for the server, if you want to get to the bare essentials, the files that you need to back up depends on the type of datafeed you have. If you have BMI, the filenames are 40BONN.DAT and BONN!
!
.LST. If you use DBC Signal, the filenames are 40SIG.DAT and SIGNAL.LST. If you use S&P Compstock, the filename are 40CMSTK.DAT and CMSTK.LST. This will back up both your intra-day data and your portfolio.

												Thank you,
