The problem with P&F is that you can't draw the chart in semi-log. Over a
long period of time (90years) its difficult to determine comparative value.

The Microsoft answer to Y2K has been to advance the cutoff date in each
successive version of MSOffice. In Office 95 v.6 the cutoff was 1920; in
Office 97 v.7 the cutoff is 1930. This effects how the data is stored in a
text file. Of course it is possible to store any date you like in text
format. The problem arises when you attempt to reformat the text or read it
with a charting program.

It is only when one wants to draw a chart of more than 100 years worth of
data that date format becomes critical.
