Writing code is a lot like translating between langauges. The underlying issue is whether you have something to say. I learned a lot about coding by hanging out on message boards. This board is particulalry generous in help and counsel - as this thread shows.

Whether you are hiring somebody to code or atempting to code on your own, an early task is to define in ordinary language with the greatest precision you can muster ecactly what you want the code to do.

I found that I could get some pretty complex (for me) code written by asking really good questions on this board. I broke down the ordinary language into controllable bite size pieces and ask how to encode it. It was amazing to see how fast those questions got answered. (And in the early days fun to see a few master coders "arguing" about what was the better solution.)

I made sure not to ask about how to encode moving average crossovers for the gajillionith time. In part I learned to code by reading the code of others. I leaned about coding "style".

Before youn ask somebody to code something for you make sure you know precisely what you want to say, and more importantly it's worth saying.

You gotta ask a good question, if you want a good answer...
