formats.

color=#0000ff size=2>Prior to v6.5 (ie before 1998) MetaStock format was 
basically the same as the CompuTrac format.  This supported a maximum of 
255 securities per folder.

color=#0000ff size=2>When v6.5 was released (1997/1998), MetaStock format 
supported 2000 securities-per-folder through a minor extension of the Computrac 
format.  The "2000" securities-per-folder was just an arbitrary 
limit.

color=#0000ff size=2>When v8 was released (2002 I think it was), the limit on 
MetaStock format was extended to 6000 (the actual file format didn't change... 
just the limit on the # of files in the folder changed.

color=#0000ff size=2>Theoretically, if you convert/copy your existing data using 
The Downloader to one where you have < 255 securities per folder using 
the downloaded, you'll get your "old" Metastock format.
