Well, Jay, I haven't known you to make many smart ass remarks. I
could answer your's with one of my own but I won't bother. If you
don't like ICE, ask Adaptick for a refund. It's not that difficult to
do.
Why would you need the formulas in ICE? After you have run the
optimization on an indicator, if you need to test it in your own
formulas, most of the indicators have the code already written for
them. The program is for the vast majority of MS users who can't
write any code, and don't particularly want to learn.
There's a systematic way of using the product. If you follow the
methodology you can improve the performance of indicators or systems.
To do so, you've got to spend a lot time crunching numbers, but in
the end the data is worthwhile. I've gotten some really good
information out of the product. It saved me a lot of time. I didn't
follow all the recommendations it generated. I didn't necessarily use
the best performing indicator identified by the system's tester, and
I settled on my thresholds using observations rather than numerical
optimization.
The product is not perfect. The manual is missing some key
information on thresholds and a couple of other tables that would
make things easier. When I asked about this stuff, Adaptick people
said they would finish those tables and threshold information and
send it out. It's a time consuming piece of software to use, but then
again, system writing and testing is time consuming also.
I'm always amazed how much bitching goes on when someone who writes a
time consuming, expensive piece of software won't give the buyer the
code. Microsoft doesn't give you the code either. Have you written
them a complaint letter?
Every one of the plug-ins and add-ons is liked, or disliked, by
someone. A lot of people have complaints about MS, but in every
survey it comes out on top. Several of Equis's add-ons and plug-ins
have won awards and been voted number one by users. What's up with
that? All I ever hear is how they're all a piece of crap!
I think the problem is there never has been, nor will there ever be,
a product that meets everyone's needs. I told you what I liked about
the product and what I didn't. I can't say if it will fix your
particular problems.
In my case, I've gotten way more than 99 bucks worth of benefit from
the product. In your case, it sounds like you didn't. I'd ask for
that refund.
Reviewing software is like reviewing movies. Not everyone is going to
agree, but I doubt they would tell you to get a refund from Roger
Ebert if you didn't like a movie he recommended.
