That's true. However, to be fair to QP, I should say that creating MS data
files from a ticker list using QP Metastock format output utility
automatically creates 255 files per folder partition. So the only difference
is that you have too (?) many folders for whole bunch of equities.

Also, since all NYSE, AMEX, NASDAQ 10000+ equites are kept and
maintained in QP data files, my universe of equites in MS format is much
smaller - about 1000 (excluding those with low liquidity - averaged daily
volume < 100,000, small price < $7 , and small capitalization < 250 mln,
and too low volatility). It makes about 4-5 folders of 255 files each.
I can stand it :-) .

I use MS 7.02 EOD.
